Personal Introduction
Hello, my name is Aidan Parral. I was born and raised in San Diego, but I feel like I was born in Rome, London, Ohio, Mexico, and many other places. I am known to get a good majority of my work done on time to the best of my ability, but I don't think of myself as a person who is great at writing and I am not very good at group work because it is difficult for me to divvy the workload between people. I also consider myself a great person at math and time management, doing a fair amount of my work at home when I need to. What I to get out of my learning at High Tech High is that I want to learn as much as possible because I know that I am going to need those skills in the future. Some hobbies of mine are that I like to knit, sewing hats, reading, racing in the soapbox derby, rock climbing, and playing video games.
Balsa Project Reflection
We are now in our third week of school. You have worked in a partnership to build and launch two balsa rockets and also have created a video to showcase your work. The prompts below are to be answered in an effort to reflect on this project. Please make a copy of this document and respond to the prompts in a different color font. Finally, link your document as a post under the humanities tab for me to review.
Story: How to be a Model Employee
1.) Once upon a time…
There was an employee at a local supermarket, the 50 cents store, named Craig who lived on 2045 Roland street in a small house and is usually in charge of mopping the floors and taking out the garbage.
2.) And every day…
He would take the night shift ever since his third week on the job to help pay his rent and buy a beige Volvo hatchback he has always wanted ever since he could be employed.
3.) Until one day…
He saw a strange, tall man that looked like he was seven feet and eight inches tall outside with arms that would be long enough to reach the ground outside of the 50 cents store digging through the garbage around 1:30 in the morning, while Craig was taking the garbage out, which then he thought it must be Steven Johnson, but Steven doesn't have such long arms, and then he thought he might have not taken his medication, but he remembers taking it before eating his egg sandwich for breakfast.
4.) And because of this...
He decided to tap this guy on the shoulder and give him a kind reminder to not dig through the trash and scare him like that so that he can get back to doing his job. He taps the guy on the shoulder and begins giving him that reminder to quite digging through the trash, slowly realising as he is turning around that this man is not a man at all, realising the situation he is in Craig drops the garbage on the floor like a mediocre employee and runs into the fine establishment and locks the door, but unfortunately for Craig the Owner of this chain of supermarkets is a cheapskate and not a single thing in this 50 cents store has been replaced since this company was founded in 1985 by Adalbert Fischer when he moved to america to seek new fortune.
5.) And because of this...
The door broke door with ease, so Craig ran into one of the checkout booths and hid there hoping it wouldn’t find him. From behind the booth he can hear the thing striding across aisle to aisle attempting and failing to find Craig until it comes across the booths and looks over them one by one, minutes became hours until the thing came to the booth craig was hiding in and it was staring right at him and Craig is paralyzed with fear until it simply dashes away leaving not a single trace that it was there other than the door being shattered into oblivion. So what would a model employee do in this scenario? Why, finish the job of taking out the trash, mop the floors and make up a story about the door being destroyed after someone drove their car into it and drove off without a trace. Around every one and a half months Craig would see that thing and be put into the same scenario.
6.) Until One Day . . .
After this happening six times of seeing that thing, he decides that this shall happen no more.
So he bought a 20 gauge shotgun from the local gun store and at 11:49 in the afternoon Craig greeted the thing with the barrel of his gun and exploded the head of the thing, Craig then took the remains, stuffed them in the garbage container, mopped up the blood, and made up yet another story for the manager that the reason he wasn't able to finish mopping the floors was that there were some kids outside egging the store.
7.) And ever since that day . . .
He has taught other employees how to be a model for others telling that same story as an example because he knows no one will believe it.

- How did you feel on the first day of school compared to how you feel today? What things have contributed to any changes in the way you feel?
- If you could build a third Balsa rocket, what would you do differently and why?
- After watching some other students’ films, what themes or common traits have you noticed?
- Is there something you saw in someone else’s film, that you wish you would have done in yours? What was it?
- Do you see value in being able to create a film about your work? Why or why not?
- What are a few things you plan to do differently on your next film and why?
